Anthony James Allmendinger (pronounced "Ahmawn'ding") is an American professional driver in stock car racing. He competes full-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and part-time in the NASCAR Cup Series. Allmendinger is married and has one daughter, Ava.

AJ Allmendinger moved from open-wheel race to stock cars in 2006. After his contract with NBC expired, he decided to make a transition to NASCAR. Kaulig Racing approached him to be a part of the team in 2019.

After starting his career at Phoenix Racing as a part time driver in 2004, AJ Allmendinger quickly signed a fulltime contract with JTG Daugherty Racing. Allmendinger won his Cup Series debut race at Watkins Glen International in 2014. Allmendinger's impressive performance was not enough to match the results he had with Phoenix. He remained at the team for four more years without a win, and it appeared that his full-time career had ended.

In 2007, Allmendinger was part of Red Bull's driver lineup for the 2007 Nextel Cup Series. The team was unable to qualify him for Atlanta because he did not have enough owner points. He was unable to compete at the Texas Motor Speedway or Atlanta Motor Speedway.

AJ Allmendinger has lost his career due to his drug-test failure. His career depends on corporate sponsorship. NASCAR is not interested in partnering with anyone who has been caught using drugs. The driver is reportedly "shell-shocked" by the news. He is trying to be a good person and respect NASCAR's rules.

NASCAR officials confirmed that Allmendinger failed the random drug test. The Kentucky race weekend saw the drug test administered. NASCAR did no give reasons for the failure. However, Allmendinger is allowed to take a second drug test within 72-hours. However, the suspension is not over. Hornish was contacted in order to fill the role of Allmendinger. Hornish flew only two hours before departing from North Carolina for Daytona.
