The 2018 NASCAR Championship is almost clinched after Joey Logano's win at Martinsville Speedway last week. Joey Logano, Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr. have just two races to prove their worth. Joey Logano hasn't won any races since 2013, but Kyle Busch, the current Cup Series champion is still in contention. However, with two more races, the other seven drivers have a chance to prove themselves.

Joey Logano took home the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Championship on Saturday night. After passing Martin Truex Jr., he won the Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. He had 12 laps left. He finished ahead of Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch and won his first career championship.

Joey Logano started at 13th and was there for most of race day. But, a controversial pit track violation in the latter stages of race saw him drop to seventh. He quickly recovered and was seventh. Logano now holds 22 consecutive lead lap finishes. The previous record was 21 by Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Kyle Busch wins Monster Energy Cup Series finale in Miami

Kyle Busch has won at Homestead-Miami Speedway the Ford EcoBoost 400, his second career NASCAR Cup Series crown. Busch was injured in a race and missed 11 races last season. The win came after a challenging season. He led a record 120 laps in the season finale to win the championship.


The race took place over a 1.5 mile oval. Busch won the race by 4.578 seconds. Martin Truex Jr. was in the #19 Toyota. Busch's win means that he won five races and has claimed 17 top-five finishes. With 52 wins, Busch is the most successful Toyota driver with Camrys Racing as well as Joe Gibbs Racing.

Kurt Busch clinches playoff spot

Kurt Busch secured a playoff place in the 2018 NASCAR title with just one race left in regular season. A concussion-like symptoms meant that the two-time champion was not racing since July 17 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Busch had stated previously that he would not race for the remainder of the regular season. In addition, Busch had a medical waiver that allowed him to skip the race due to a health concern.

Busch maintained his lead in the second stage. Elliott finished second in the first stage but was unable to catch Busch in Stage 2. Kurt Busch was in second place until a collision with Denny Hamlin left him spinning. Both cars were on the outside of the track after the incident, but Busch was able back up to the lead lap in the second caution. After taking the lead in the final stage, Kyle Busch was finally able to secure the championship four.

Martin Truex Jr. finishes third at the 2018 nascar championship

After a thrilling battle against Ryan Blaney, Martin Truex Jr. was third in the 2018 NASCAR Championship. Although they fought for the win, the two drivers couldn't keep each other at bay. Truex led the Toyota Tour de Force in qualifying and took four of the top 5 starting positions. Other Toyota drivers finishing in the top five were Kurt Busch, Bubba Wallace and Christopher Bell. Chase Elliott and Aric Almirola, the defending New Hampshire winner, were the leaders of the Chevrolet Ford teams.

Truex had a great day at Kentucky Speedway. Truex won all three stages including the final, and defended his Quaker State400 win from last year. He won his fourth season championship and 19th in the NASCAR Cup Series. Truex had a 1.901-second lead over Ryan Blaney at the finish line. Brad Keselowski & Kyle Busch finished behind him.
