What kind of cars are used for racing cars?

Speed is the most important factor for any race car driver. It is what makes them go fast. They must be fast enough and strong enough not to lose the lead. This gives them an advantage over other racers as they can overtake others at high speeds and then pull away from them again when they're not looking.

Most of the fastest cars are very light. They can accelerate quickly and achieve a high speed. However, they also have less power. This limits their ability to travel far in a relatively short time. They need to make efficient use of energy.

Engines power most modern-day racing cars. These engines are identical to those used in passenger vehicles. These engines are powered by compressed air, instead of petrol. This is because petrol isn't powerful enough to provide enough power to make a car go very fast.
